there anything too hard for me?”
-Jeremiah 32:27
I need to remind myself that COVID-19 is no match for God! The corona virus didn’t surprise God or throw him for a loop. God’s not mystified on how to deal with this latest pandemic. And while the world runs around seemingly amok, blaming this country or the administration or the irresponsible millennials or the latest media target of the day, we need to simply remember one thing, God loves us!
“Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.” – Leviticus 19:18
Rather than looking for who’s to blame for the Corona virus (including blaming God!) and whether you agree with our government’s response to the pandemic or not, let’s ask ourselves, what is God trying to teach us? For example, have we been thankful for the daily blessings in our lives?
Personally, I’ve taken a lot of my blessings for granted! My health, my job, my family, my freedoms…I pray that when this pandemic is over I will never again take for granted the everyday blessing of sharing a meal with loved ones, the gift of playing a round of golf with a friend or going to a movie or simply worshiping together in a Sunday church service. Dare I say I even pray for the day when I can go back to work? When I can commute to the office and greet coworkers face to face! What a blessing it is to work with people!!
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future” – Jeremiah 29:11
God wastes nothing, and He will not waste our pain with COVID-19 either. There are larger truths at work here and I don’t want to miss the lessons to be learned by feeding my discontent. No, I am not happy with COVID-19! And yet, I pray the Lord will use the restrictive hardships imposed by it to open my eyes and my heart to the profound joy of simply being able to live and love others freely, without impediment.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” – Romans 15:13
God bless you!
